HARRISBURG – Pennsylvania’s York County House Delegation was once again honored for their conservative voting record according to The Institute for Legislative Analysis (ILA). Reps. Dawn Keefer (R-York) and Mike Jones (R-York) each received the Charlie Gerow Award as a Champion of Limited Government, Reps. Seth Grove (R-York) and Kate Klunk (R-York) each received the Charlie Gerow Award as a Defender of Limited Government.

“A new analysis of the Pennsylvania legislature – including the most comprehensive federal and state lawmaker scorecard ever produced – has found Pennsylvania lawmakers have the most conservative voting records on issues relating to crime and security,” according to the ILA. “The report just released by the ILA is based on over 13,000 votes cast by Pennsylvania lawmakers last year at both the federal and state level.”

According to the ILA, “Noteworthy accomplishments last session included strengthening protections for crime victims and standing strong against so-called criminal justice ‘reforms’ which have led to skyrocketing crime rates and are being advanced across the nation by radical left-wing billionaires through their funding of advocacy organizations on both sides of the political aisle.”

The Institute for Legislative Analysis presented 73 state lawmakers with its Charlie Gerow Award for Limited Government Ratings of 80% and above. Additionally, 39 lawmakers earned the “Big Government Extremist” title for their ratings of 10% and below on the scorecard.

“I know my constituents expect me to work every day with their best interests in mind,” Grove said. “It’s great to have a group like the ILA give every Pennsylvanian an understanding of how their elected representatives vote. I am committed to continuing my strong voting record of limiting government this year.”

“Increasing transparency and accountability have remained priorities of mine since I first took office,” said Klunk. “I thank the ILA for its recognition of conservative voices in government and will continue to work to ensure taxpayers come first.”

“I am honored to be recognized as a Champion of Limited Government,” said Jones. “Businesses and individuals thrive when there is limited government interference, and that’s good for our economy and the citizens of our Commonwealth.”

“Limiting the size of government, particularly in the area of overregulation, has been a mission of mine since taking office and one I champion every day,” Keefer said. “It is a privilege to serve with fellow members who share my goals and to be acknowledged for our steadfast efforts.”

Background:
The ILA serves as the data and policy hub for multiple national conservative and liberty-minded organizations. Prior to the launch of the ILA, the team previously served together for nearly a decade at CPAC and the American Conservative Union where they constructed the nation’s first 50 state legislative scorecard.
