Grove Announces Funding for West Manchester Sewer Plan
January 28, 2025
DOVER – West Manchester Township received a $57,500 state grant to help cover the cost to update its sewage facilities plan, Rep. Seth Grove (R-Dover) announced.
“Planning for future growth is a key part of running a successful municipality. This grant will assist West Manchester Township with surveying its existing sewer capabilities and plan for future development,” Grove said. “I thank the Commonwealth Financing Authority for recognizing the importance of this endeavor.”
The plan includes mapping current lots and structures, identifying municipal boundaries and assessing physical characteristics, such as streams, drainage basins, soils, geologic features and potable water supplies. The plan will also detail existing sewage facilities, which include the location, size and ownership of treatment facilities, pumping stations and force mains, along with their capacities and potential issues. The last part of the plan will address future growth and land development, summarizing municipal and county planning documents, identifying existing and future development areas, as well as projecting population and dwellings.
The grant, which requires a 50% local match, was awarded by the Commonwealth Financing Authority through its Sewage Facilities Program.
