Harrisburg – The following statement is issued on behalf of House Republican Appropriations Chairman Seth Grove following the Commonwealth Court decision on Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI):
“The Commonwealth Court’s decision to halt the implementation of RGGI is a win for taxpayers and our economy. RGGI or the Wolf/Shapiro Green New Deal would have resulted in a $633 million tax increase on Pennsylvania residents at a time when Bidenomics has made everyday living for Pennsylvanians financially difficult. Further, Pennsylvania is a net exporter of energy. RGGI will shut down our energy reactors, causing job loss and economic hardship for Pennsylvania families on top of increasing energy costs for our businesses.
This court ruling is a welcomed sigh of relief from Pennsylvania families across the Commonwealth. Gov. Shapiro should let this failed policy die the peaceful death it deserves and not appeal the decision.”
