HARRISBURG – State Reps. Seth Grove (R-Dover) and Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York Township) announced today they have extend the registration deadline for their upcoming state budget workshop. The new deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 21.
The “Can You Balance a State Budget?” workshop will be held inside the Verandah Room of the
York Expo Center, 334 Carlisle Ave., on Thursday, Feb. 23, at 6 p.m.
“Earlier this month, Gov. Tom Wolf released his 2017-18 fiscal year budget proposal and it’s now the constituents’ turn to attempt to balance a more than $32 billion state budget,” Grove and Phillips-Hill said. “This exercise will also give us the opportunity to find out what’s important to constituents. Their input will be valuable to us, as legislators, as we enter the budget session.”
Attendees will be given an overview of the budget process before being split into small groups and tasked with coming up with their own version of a state budget by using a worksheet. They will consider various policy options and will have to decide where to make cuts or raise taxes to create a surplus, a deficit or a balanced budget.
Seating for this scenario-based group activity is limited. To RSVP, call Grove’s district office at (717) 767-3947, or email
