West Manchester Project Receives State Assistance
HARRISBURG – State Rep. Seth Grove (R-York) announced today West Manchester Township will receive $624,828 in state financial assistance for their storm sewer improvements project.
“Unfunded federal mandates, especially around the Chesapeake Bay Watershed, continue to drive up the cost of storm water rumination,” Grove said. “This award today will help the township keep local taxes low by offsetting some of the cost associated with the Hayward storm water project.”
“Rep. Grove has been vital in helping to secure state funds in order to improve the quality of life for residents in West Manchester Township,” said West Manchester Township Manger Kelly Kelch. “Because of Grove’s efforts, the township will be receiving $624,828 in state funds to address both surface flooding and sanitary sewer issues on Warwick and Hayward roads in West Manchester Township. This is just one of several grants that Rep. Grove has been instrumental in helping the township acquire over the last several years, we are extremely fortunate to have him representing us in Harrisburg.”
This project involves the construction of a 1,590 linear feet stormwater conveyance system within the Hayward neighborhood, including Warwick Road, North Drive, Hayward Road and Wyndhurst Road. This new system will replace an old/damaged system that is subject to exfiltration and lacks peak flow capacity causing surface flooding. These improvements will provide a system with improved capacity to capture peak storm water flows, reduce surface flooding, and minimize storm water infiltration into the adjacent sanitary sewer system.
Funding for this project was provided from the Local Share Account, which receives its funding from the PA Race Horse Development and Gaming Act (Act 2004-71), which provides for the distribution of gaming revenues through the Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) to support projects in the public interest within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.
